Medborgarplatsen's old library has been transformed into a new entertainment palace where meetings, food and music have replaced books. In January 2022, Bibliotek Live opened the doors to a new entertainment palace that houses two restaurants, four bars, event venues and a live music stage.
The house was originally designed by architect Martin Westerberg in the 1930s, and now it has been redesigned by interior designer Maja-Li Torekull. The architect had a vision to create a meeting place and celebrate diversity - what Stockholm South stands for, which she has really succeeded in!
The environment in Biblioteket Live is welcoming and playful. Warm metal tones, soft textiles, decorative paintings that become their own works of art on the walls coexist in a friendly mix with thirties design, greenery and inspiration from neo-functionalism, Art Deco and folk functionalism.
The size of the premises and the library hall's ceiling height of six metres give a dizzying feeling. Maja-Li wanted every room and every part of the building to have its own identity and atmosphere. In honour of the old library, the interior has been partially preserved and the listed library shelves have been used as furnishings in the restaurant where the large Cocktail Bar is located. We have had the honor of manufacturing restaurant sofas that were carefully adapted to these K-marked shelves. In collaboration with the architect, we have also supplied many other unique sofas, armchairs, chairs and tables for this project.
• sofas and carpentry based on architectural drawings
• Sofas, armchairs and tables from the Resize Design Modify collection
• chairs and tables from different brands
•montage
All collaborations with Resize Design have been hugely appreciated as they are, in addition to incredibly knowledgeable, very flexible and solution-oriented. They are present and incredibly service-minded. With her carpentry skills, Deborah Edin has been able to solve many complex requests and has been invaluable in all projects.
